Performance Highlights

Recorded Crime - April to May 2011 compared to same period in 2010:
  • Recorded crime has reduced by 7%, (1,099 fewer crimes);
  • 15% reduction of violence with injury;
  • Robberies are down by 22%.
  • Domestic burglary has risen by 1%, but the long-term trend is downwards;
  • 15% reduction in Auto-Crime (including vehicle interference) has reduced by 15%;
  • 14% reduction in criminal damage.
The Police Authority has a responsibility to monitor and scrutinise performance levels within South Wales Police – in other words to make sure the force is doing its job well.
 
The pages within this section illustrate the current level of performance for the force, and for each of the four policing divisions. The performance is calculated against the targets set by the Police Authority at the beginning of the year.

They show the number of crimes take place, the percentage of detections and whether the police are meeting the tough targets set. The performance is shown for South Wales as a whole, and each of the four divisions.
