South Wales Police Authority

Vetting Policy

Vetting Policy

The Authority believes that in conducting its activities it should be as open as possible and should only restrict information, both to members of the Authority and to the public, when the wider public interest clearly demands.

We recognise it has a public interest duty to ensure the security of police and government assets and information which, if disclosed, could further criminal activities. To this end the Authority has agreed this vetting policy.

This policy is derived largely from guidance provided centrally from ACPO. The ACPO vetting policy is still under review and the latest and final document is not yet published but is expected later in 2009. Therefore this Authority policy will be subject to further review when the definitive guidelines are published.
