South Wales Police Authority will be holding its next meeting on Thursday 10 May at 10am at Police Headquarters, Bridgend.
 
During the meeting, Police Authority Members will receive reports from the Chief Executive and Chief Constable on various matters, including an update on estates, personnel and the transition to Police and Crime Commissioners.

In 200 days, voters across South Wales will be electing their first Police and Crime Commissioner.  But at the moment, not much is known about the changes. 
 
South Wales Police Authority has introduced a ‘PCC What?’ campaign, which allows you to ask questions about the changes and the new policing system being brought in.

The number of complaint allegations made against South Wales Police has dropped by over 10% in the last year, according to a report presented to South Wales Police Authority.
 
The figures, provided to the Authority’s Quality of Service Group, show that the number of allegations dropped from 1,170 in 2010/11 to 1,047 in 2011/12 – a drop of 10.5%.

South Wales Police Authority has today launched its equality objectives, which sets out how we will promote equality.
 
The Equality Objectives, available at the Police Authority’s website, have been brought in to demonstrate how we will work towards achieving the aims of the General Equality Duty in the next few years. This is a requirement under the Equality Act 2010.

Two thirds of people think South Wales Police is providing the right level of policing, according to the results of a new survey from South Wales Police Authority.
 
The survey also found that of the 708 people questioned, 74% think the police listen to communities needs and concerns.

South Wales Police Authority has today agreed to increase the policing element of council tax by 5% - or 2p per day for a Band D property.
 
This increase takes the amount paid for policing a Band D household to £169.42 for 2012-13.

South Wales Police Authority will decide the total increase to the police element of council tax for 2012-13 during its meeting on Monday, 13 February at 10am, Police Headquarters, Bridgend.
 
The Police Authority and Force are already facing a tough financial situation, because of funding cuts by Central Government.  The Authority will hear from the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Constable as to how much money is needed to help bridge the gap.
